Hello Everyone. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!
Just a few reminders for your the upcoming week:
1. Freelance Writer: Your Freelance Writer assignments are due tonight by 8 with responses by 11. The purpose here is to give you a chance to be creative with your new science knowledge. I hope you have fun with these. I will be grading these Monday night using the grading rubrics posted at the bottom of the assignment description.
2. html Editor: If you are having trouble getting text you have formatted to "look right" on the discussion board, don't forget to click the little "html editor" box at the right edge of the composing window to get every possible option for formatting your text.
3. Problems with Word: Also, if you are using Word to format your text, the problem may lie with Word. Check out this short website on Posting to your Blog to learn more about the evils of Word (for composing stuff for posting on the web, that is) and, more importantly, to learn about alternative programs you can use to compose your posts. Please do not post attached Word documents as your only assignment: I can't open them and I'm sure others in the class can't either.
4. Extra Credit: Your first Final Thoughts assignment is due tomorrow. This assignment is optional, but is worth 2 extra credit points. Be sure to read and follow all of the instructions!
5. Survey: Remember that survey you did back in week 1? Did you know that you can see the results with just a few clicks? When you're in Learn, go to Surveys, click that little pie chart on the right edge of the screen, click First Look, and then click Generate the HTML report. There's lots of good info about you all, including movie recommendations!
6. Something to do: If any of you are interested in environmental issues, next week, you can put that interest into action. Focus the Nation is "a national teach-in engaging millions of students and citizens with political leaders and decision makers about Global Warming Solutions." On Jan. 29 and 30, OU is participating in this teach-in, with many on-campus events that may interest you. For general information about Focus the Nation events at OU, visit the College of Arts and Sciences home page.
That's it for now! As always, let me know if you have questions!
