Summer 2008 Course Welcome
Welcome to the Summer 2008 Contemporary Issues in Biology Course. This course page is still under construction! Please feel free to look around, but expect that things will be changing over the next few days!

Well, folks, it's the last day of this class. :( Here are a few last announcements:
1. What's due today? If you need a few extra points, you only have until noon to earn them. Your last Final Thoughts assignments are due by noon AND the 5-point extra credit course evaluation is also due then.
2. What's coming up? Nothing! You're done!
3. Grades? I've finished grading your last Adopt-a-Species assignment and will get your grades for those posted today. I will have your final course grades posted no later than Wednesday.
That's it for the semester! It's been a pleasure! If you have any questions or concerns, you know where to find me!

One more day to go!
Hi all! Here's what's on the agenda for the next two days:
1. What's due today? Responses to Adopt-a-Species assignments are due tonight by 11:00 p.m. Be sure to use the individual discussion forums to post your responses.
2. What's coming up? Your LAST assignment of the semester, Final Thoughts, are due Tuesday by noon.
3. What am I doing? I'll be grading your Adopt-a-Species assignments today and should have the grades posted either tonight or tomorrow.
4. Thank you....to all of you who have taken the time to complete the 5-point extra credit course evaluation. AND, it's not too late if you still haven't given me feedback! The quiz to declare these points will no longer be available after noon tomorrow.

Happy Sunday, all! Hopefully you've had a fun weekend and are ready to get back into things!
1. What's due tonight? Your final Adopt-a-Species assignment is due tonight by 11:00 p.m. As usual, you need to send me an email with a functioning hyperlink to your blog page by the deadline.
2. What's coming up? Responses to your classmates' A-a-S assignments are due tomorrow by 11:00 p.m. Don't forget that your responses to your peers should be posted in each person's individual discussion forum.
3. The last assignment: Your last Final Thoughts assignment of the semester is due on Tuesday by noon. Do some quick math to see if you need these points or not (or drop me an email if you're unsure).
4. Evaluations? The 5-point extra credit course evaluation quiz is set to expire at the time that your last assignment (Final Thoughts) is due--Tuesday at noon. If you still want those points and/or want to share your thoughts on the course, be sure to post on the discussion board or send me an email with your comments!

The end is in sight!
Hi folks! We're almost there.....two assignments and your course evaluations and you're done! I know this is a stressful time with final exams coming up, but if you need those last few points to make the grade you want, be sure to put in a few extra minutes to make sure your assignments meet all of the requirements!

1. What's due today? Your Digging Deeper assignments are due tonight by 8 with responses by 11:00 p.m. You've got the option of doing one of two assignments, so pick the one that looks the most interesting to you!
2. What's doing tomorrow? Not a thing! Take the day to recuperate and get ready for your last Adopt-a-Species assignment that's due on Sunday.
As usual, you know where to find me if you have questions or concerns about things! You probably won't hear from me on Friday or Saturday, but I'm still here if you need me!

Can you believe it's the last day of April???
Hi everyone!
1. Starting Assumptions: I'm really impressed with all of your interesting Starting Assumptions thoughts! Great work on those! I've gone through and responded to a bunch of posts, particularly the ones that no one else responded to. I know it's the end of the semester, but don't forget to respond to posts with one or no responses first!
2. What's due today? Today is a reading quiz day, so be sure to complete your quiz before 11:00 p.m. tonight.
3. What's coming up? Tomorrow's a Thursday, so you have your last Digging Deeper assignment due. It's kinda cool because you have two assignments to choose from.
4. Keep those questions coming! A couple of you have emailed me to ask about grades; see the Grading Policies page to see the point cutoffs for each grade. Let me know if you have questions about your personal circumstances.

1. I'm a grading machine! Despite it being a rather hectic Monday, I still managed to get your grades posted last evening. Take a look and let me know if you have questions or concerns.
2. What's due today? Your last Starting Assumptions assignment....ever. Don't cry--it's not that bad! Assignments are due by 8 with responses by 11.
3. What's due tomorrow? Wednesday is reading quiz day, so be sure to complete your quiz before 11:00 p.m.
4. Evaluations: I've received some extremely helpful comments from 10 of you now (9 on the discussion board and 1 via email). I would love to hear from all of you about the things you liked and disliked about the course! AND it's worth 5 bonus points!
